Sony TVs have long been known as some of the best sets available. The fine picture tube quality of the Sony Trinitron has been imitated the industry over and contracted to go into other manufacturer's TVs and monitors who want the best imaging.

Today, Sony TVs run the gamut of display technologies Plasma, LCD and LCD rear projection TVs as well as CRT-based rear projection TVs that display image quality at the top of its class. Regardless of what kind of television you're looking for, if it's a Sony TV it's sure to cost a little more for better quality.

Sony's TV line doesn't include a DLP TV, which is disappointing. Sony does, however, make a complete line of Wega LCD rear projection TVs all the way up to a whopping 70" screen.

The LCD projection TV might be the closest to being replaced outright by other new display technologies. They look good but the screen door effect is evident especially in the 60" to 70" range and not even Sony's engineering can get rid of it completely.

As a consumer you'll have to decide the picture quality for yourself, so be sure and audition a Sony TV in the price range you're interested in.
