Sharp TVs specializing in LCD panels
Sharp Corporation is a Japanese company founded in 1912, taking its name from its founding invention, the Ever Ready Sharp mechanical pencil invented by Hayakawa Tokuji in 1915. The pencil enterprise was destroyed in 1923 by the great Kanto Earthquake. In response, the fledgling company did what any pencil company in 1923 would do after being destroyed by an earthquake: they moved to Osaka and started making radios. In fact Sharp is credited with designing the first Japanese radio sets that went out back in 1925 then in 1953 they started production of Japans first television sets. Theyre also credited with the worlds first all transistor desktop calculator back in 1964 and the first LCD calculator in 1973.Advertiser Links

The Aquos line consists of Sharps finest LCD televisions. Any choice from this product line is sure to be among the best made LCD panel technology made today, being that Sharp has a long history working with this technology. Long before LCD was common in televisions, however, Sharp had little to brag about in the CRT based TV market. Sharp generally occupied the lower end of the product scale when comparing TV manufacturers and largely occupies the same market space today. Of course there are products made by Sharp that are well received in the consumer electronics media with high honors as good quality products. Sharp has a lot to offer through its mastery of the LCD, so you cant go wrong with a good Sharp LCD panel. If youre getting an LCD TV that is made by Sharp you can be sure the panel itself is also made by the manufacturer which is definitely a good thing, keeping a central focus on their core technology. It has a line of large LCD panels that get all the way up to 45 and panels that will soon to go beyond that size and will be capable of 1080P, the very latest display technology with a true resolution of 1920x1080.
The Aquos line of televisions seems to place a lot of emphasis on the audio system, which is never a good sign in a television. Usually youre going to use an outside source for audio if this is to anchor a Home Theater system. But in many applications for a display youll have need of sound, and with Sharps digital amplifier technology built into many of their Aquos line youre getting highly efficient sound using virtual Dolby Digital processing from TV speakers. The bottom line on Sharp: theyve become a world class television manufacturer thanks to the popularity of LCD. You cant go wrong getting into a Sharp LCD panel but they dont enjoy as strong a history of recognition in the television industry as Sony, Hitachi or Mitsubishi.
