LCD TV

LCD TV or Liquid Crystal Display is a fixed pixel display type, one of the new technologies in TV and computer monitors.

LCD TV has proven popular as small LCD displays have become easier and cheaper to make. LCD TV is made from active matrix LCD panels that use thin film transistors to regulate voltages to individual pixels. Transistors regulate voltage to three liquid crystal sub pixels (red, green and blue) that regulate light passing through the panel.
As an example of how many thin film transistors it takes to make an LCD TV panel, consider 1024x768 requires 2,359,296 separate transistors built into a wafer thin panel. A bad transistor on an LCD panel means a bad pixel, and most LCD TVs and monitors have a few bad pixels. Manufacturing these panels is difficult work, and some 40% of all panels are unsuitable for retail due to bad pixels.
