Energy Speakers
It may surprise some that Energy has been making speakers from its facilities in Toronto, Canada for the last 25 years. Energy is not known as a large manufacturer like its fellow Canadian speaker firm, Paradigm.
Energy seems to have more of a cottage reputation, but they benefit from their own research at the Canadian National Research Council's anechoic chamber in Ottawa. This is a special acoustically isolated room Energy engineers use to perform accurate sound measurements. For a speaker manufacturer to use one for its research shows a rare quality and attention to detail.
The Take 5.2 micro satellite/sub home theater speaker system retails well under $1,000. The Take line is probably best suited for the small apartment or dorm it's priced for. For someone looking for serious audiophile quality at minimal price you'd be hard pressed to do better than the XL home theater speaker system. Upgrading your XL 150 front speakers to a pair of XL 250 floor standing tower speakers will introduce added punch to your home theater and uncompromising musicality.
Price Points
Take 5.2 for small rooms at around $700. Try XL speaker system or Encore system for larger rooms.
