Home Theater Seating
One of the most distinctive aspects of the theater experience has always been the seating. The seats at the local megaplex have come a long way since the stiff folding metal chairs with minimum cushion of decades past. Today's theater seats come complete with of recliners, drink holders and high backs to support your neck.
At home, the couch has always served as the primary home theater seat, but with the advent of dedicated home theater rooms in the house, this is beginning to change. Many familiar home furniture manufacturers like La-Z-Boy are now creating their own home theater seating options but there is also a specialty niche market being created. A huge variety of sectional seating options abound with armrests, love seats, recliners and even leg rests.

With all these well-made and very comfortable home theater options from which to choose, it's easy to get caught up in the luxury and comfort. But remember when selecting home theater seating, there is a functional purpose. You must select seating that will put the maximum number of viewers into the "sweet spot" where they will get the best image and sound quality. Seating should be comfortable enough to sit through a two hour feature, but not so comfortable the audience will fall asleep.
High backs are a pleasant new feature in home theater seating but too high and they threaten to dampen sound from the rear channels. When selecting seating it's best to know your audience and choose accordingly.
