Profile: Time Warner Cable TV

An overview of Time Warner services

Time Warner services are currently available in 16 U.S. states, and the company is one of the largest and most trusted providers of digital cable broadcasting services in the country. It was formed as the result of a 1989 merger between the American Television and Communications Corporation, owned by Time Incorporated, and Warner Cable, a subsidiary of Warner Communications of Warner Brothers fame. In addition to cable TV, Time Warner also offers landline telephone and Internet services to both residential and commercial customers.

An Overview of Time Warner Channels

Hundreds of Time Warner channels are available, and the ones that you'll get depend on which service package you purchase. The company offers dozens of different cable bundles, and the best prices in the company's residential market are offered on packages which include cable television, Internet and home phone service.

Here is an overview of the company's three most popular service bundles:

  • Triple Standard TV & Basic. This is the company's most affordable major package, offering over 70 channels along with 3 megabit per second Internet service and home phone service with voicemail capabilities.
  • Triple with Basic. This package upgrades your cable TV service, increasing the number of Time Warner channels available to more than 200. Internet and home phone services remain the same. This package offers excellent value for consumers who are more concerned with TV service than Internet service.
  • Triple with Turbo. In addition to over 200 channels, you get DVR television recording capabilities as well as faster Internet speeds with this package. It offers an upgrade to as much as 20 megabits per second, and also includes nationwide calling and voicemail home phone services.

A wide range of other bundles and packages are available, depending on which services you do and do not need. You may or may not be required to sign Time Warner contracts committing to a minimum service period, depending on which services and bundles you choose.
