LG unveils upgraded HDTV/DVR combo

At the Hilton in Seoul S. Korea today LG unveiled its complete line of flat panel HDTV’s with upgraded built in DVR.  Of his companies forward thinking designs Mr.  Sang Han Yoon, Executive Vice President and CEO of LG said:

"Today's TV viewers already have too many choices in high-resolution widescreen TVs.”  Apparently his sentiment wasn’t enough to deter LG from adding one more.

The new digital flat panel TVs will be available in both LCD and Plasma designs.  LCD models will be 37”, 42” and 47” and plasma will be available in 42”, 50” sizes.  The upgraded built in digital video recorders will have a 250 GB capacity, enough for 21 hours of HDTV recording.  That’s a significant jump from current models LG demonstrated at CES ’06 with 160 GB drives.

One of the new convenience features will be the 9-in-2, multi-format memory card reader.  The versatile reader will let you view digital photos but also MP3s.  You can even transfer your digital media to the TVs hard drive so you can store digital music and images.  The 9-in-2 will read the following memory cards CF/MD/SD/SMC/MMC/MS/MS Pro/MS Pro Duo/xD.  Convenient features yes, but so far no 1080P TV/PVRs are forthcoming.

LG has come a long way since the days of those old Goldstar 19” TV/VCR combo.
