Speaker Stands
Speaker stands are crucial for elevating small bookshelf or satellite speakers and make for better acoustics than mounting speakers on a wall or even putting them inside a bookshelf.
Speaker stands should elevate the speakers so sound radiates at average ear level for the listener.
Another critical aspect of speaker stands is the weight. The speaker shouldn't be able to move the stand. For weight purposes, some higher-end speaker stands employ a sand filling technique.
Most speaker stands should come with carpet spikes to secure the speaker stands on carpeting. You don't want them leaning or easily moved by vibrations. On hardwood flooring, rubber feet should be used to hold the speaker stands in place.
