Digital Audio Cables

The advent of multi-channel audio and digital storage has created a whole new system of interconnects called digital audio cables. Digital outputs should always be used whenever available, whether on your CD player DVD player or any other digital playback device. Use digital audio cables for maximum performance.

There are two kinds of digital audio cables, optical and coax. Optical cables are also called Toslink and use a plastic fiber material to pass the digital signal. The other kind of digital audio cables are the coax, also considered RCA. It's recommended to use 75 ohm cable as digital coax. Coaxial digital audio cables have broader bandwidth than optical and are much cheaper so coax is an obvious choice if you have that luxury.
Buy digital audio cables with a good build quality that look and feel like they'll last through years of handling and reconnecting. Beware of the cult of the cables who will try to goad you into buying ever more expensive cables, citing conditions like data loss and jitter.
